Abstract
Augustus Noah May (1876- 1944), a Magoffin County native, graduated from the Berea College Normal School in 1902 and went on to attend the Sloyd Training School in Boston in 1903. May returned to Berea in December of 1903 to teach Sloyd and Model School studies. May would hold positions at Berea, in the Model and Foundation Schools, teaching woodwork, Sloyd, and manual training and drawing until 1919 when he became a professor of Industrial Education at the University of Kentucky.

After agitating the question of the need to organize a cemetery association and holding preliminary meetings led by Reverend E. H. Fairchild and A.A. Wright, the Berea community organized the Berea Cemetery Association in 1872. The preliminary meetings resulted in the adoption of a constitution, the enrollment of nearly thirty subscribers to the Constitution, and an initiation fee for membership of $2.00. Abstract
The 1986 Master Plan was the result of a planning effort approved at the Spring 1986 meeting of the Berea College Board of Trustees. The intended outputs of the planning efforts and new master plan for Berea College were to: (1) plan for the use of outlying college property; (2) describe a development plan for the Boone Tavern area; and (3) outline the desired image recommended for Berea College.

Abstract
